The month of July has been a real whirlwind in the world of professional golf. From the hot streaks of Justin Rose and Steve Stricker, to Louis Oosthuizen’s bustout victory in the British Open, a lot has happened. Tiger looked good for a while at St. Andrews, but he couldn’t quite find his total game yet. Still Tiger has a history of winning the PGA in years that he hasn’t won another major.

I’m always looking for information about golf equipment that can possibly help out. I found this article that many of you might find interesting. Justin Rose has given a lot of credit for his great year, to his equipment. According to the article

“It was pretty much TaylorMade all the way for Rose. He played a Burner SuperFast driver at 9.5 degrees of loft, averaging more than 300 yards on the measured driving holes — and more important at narrow Aronimink, keeping the ball where he could find it. (Rose was T15 in the field in driving accuracy.)”

Justin Rose also gave a lot of credit to the five wood he hit three feet from the pin for eagle on number nine Sunday. The article continues..

“Sure looks that way. Balls just seem to be going where they’re directed, such as when Rose made eagle on the par-5 ninth on Sunday, a bright spot among bogeys on Nos. 8, 10 and 11. It was a TaylorMade R9 TP 5-wood (Rose called it a 5; TaylorMade calls it a 4…either way, it had 17 degrees of loft) that got the ball to brush-in range. And like so many long shots, the success came from focusing on the landing area and not too much on specific results.”

This is really one incredible club. As always there are golfers who ask “what’s the catch?” Not much except the original $700 price tag. Once you take it on the course it isn’t legal to move the weights around during your round.  I just leave mine set to a little hook unless I’m going to play a super tight course. Then I just set it to a slight fade, and it only costs me about 10 yards. Ninety five percent of the time I don’t have to change a thing. A year ago, I replaced my old TaylorMade driver, and replaced it with the TaylorMade Superquad r7 Driver®. I have got to admit, it was the best move I ever made when it comes to improving my golf game. TayorMade has been the number one driver out on the PGA tour for several years now, and it looks like it will stay that way. Before I made the switch, I had an R7 425 TP model, and I can assure you, they have improved this beauty in several different ways.

TaylorMade Superquad r7 Driver® features an inverted cone in the back of the club face that enlarges the sweet spot, giving me more distance on off center shots. I usually hit a slice, and on many holes I was forced to hit a fairway wood if I needed to hit any kind of draw or hook or draw off the tee. The Superquad r7 makes it easy to hit either shot. I had to use my old driver one day when I left my R7 in the garage, and what a difference it made.

I won’t go play a round without my Superquad R7 these days because it costs me too many strokes if I use any other driver. It takes me way off my game and makes me very uncomfortable, especially on the tee. I get more distance and accuracy on my tee shots with the Superquad, and now I’m beating the guys who used to kick my butt on the same course.
